So as the summer approaches there are a multitude of things to get excited about, ice cream, cider by the canal, not wearing coats, the promise of a tan.... and Boxpark! The pop-up mall made entirely of moveable steel containers is due to open under Shoreditch Rail in August with huge amounts of interest and rumours flying everywhere as to who the lucky 'invite only' brands will be. The whole concept appeals to me, no high street brands, no big commercial input, an illusion of spur of the moment retailing. Absolutely winning, as Em & Sid may say. A premise of innovation by small brands in an affordable retailing environment, it's markedly fitting that the first ever Boxpark is being set up in the previous home of the textile industry of London. Check out the website for more information and updates on progress, I am quietly impressed that the directions tab includes a 'how to' for those of us who should wish to fly to London just for a visit to Boxpark. Not so subtle optimism, love it.
